Give Back at the River Shoreline Earth Day Clean Up

Celebrate Earth Day in 2018 by helping to clean up small and large debris accumulated along the banks of Rock Run Rookery Preserve. It’s a great way to get involved in your community, and it’s even a fun way to get a little dirty while doing so.

5 Reasons to Take Part in the River Shoreline Clean Up for Earth Day

Rock Run Rookery Preserve is the place to be on April 21! The River Shoreline Clean Up event gets underway at 9 AM, and runs until 11 AM.

So why should you come join in on Earth Day weekend?

  1. Volunteering is a great way to give back. It’s a morning of invigorating work, and there’s effort to put in. This event is only for those who like to get their hands dirty while giving back. Waterproof footwear is highly recommended. All instructions and safety equipment will be provided upon your arrival.
  2. It’s a way to creatively use a kayak. If you have your own kayak, bring it along! There are some areas that can’t be reached by foot, so a kayak can help with more challenging terrain.
  3. Get the kids involved! Due to the nature of the work, the cleanup is limited to those 14 years of age or older. But if your kids do meet that requirement, bring them along! It’s a great bonding event and a way for the whole family to pitch in.
  4. It’s a fun group activity. If you have a larger group, be it co-workers, friends, or family, this is the perfect way to get involved in the community! Call to register groups with over six participants, or find out more about registration online by clicking here.
  5. The great outdoors. Hey, what beats getting outdoors and enjoying some fresh air? Leave the smartphones and Netflix behind for a few hours, get out of the house, and enjoy the fresh air. It is Earth Day, after all!
